This brand new reference book comprehensively covers the predecimal silver threepences, sixpences, shillings, florins and crowns of Australia from 1909 to 1964, including all known patterns and proofs. It documents all currently known obverse and reverse die varieties and all known die pairings as well as all official patterns including those of King Edward VIII. Also included are a number of recently discovered Edward VIII pattern varieties. It also covers the history of the Australia's predecimal silver coinage, from the introduction of the coinage, design and alloy changes and their eventual replacement with the arrival of decimal currency.
Lists of obverse and reverse die descriptions and specifications are followed by detailed chronological listings of die pairings with cross-references to Jon Saxton's numbering system for easy identification and cross-referencing. There are high resolution photos of almost all of the obverse and reverse designs used along with detailed descriptions.
